Ovarian Cancer, Liver Metasis, Bowel Obstruction

We have been told there is no additional treatments that would provide any sence of quality of life.  This is from a second opinion doctor so we are back with the original local onco.  He has prescribed Fentinyl, a higher dose of Percoset for breakthru pain and Ativan.  She has abdominal pain, no passage of gas and few and far between movements.  Additionally she is barely eatting.   Can anyone tell me approximately how long she will be with us?  I am the sole provider for 2 small kids and my husband has been laid off.  I do not want her to be alone, but I am unsure when I should be with her on a 24 hour basis since no one is currently assisting her physically.

Any recommendations?

So sorry for the pain you're all going through.
Have you contacted Hospice, I understand that they are really wonderful for helping with end of life issues.

If your relative has been recently hospitalized, you can contact the social services people at that institution.  I am assuming you are in the US.  Also, the United Way might be able to give you the names of some agencies that offer help.  Another source would be the American Cancer Society.  You might try your oncologist's office for referrals.

These are difficult times and my heart goes out to you.

Could a home health service provide care?  That could give you more time with your family and also keep someone there to notify you of any changes.  My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.  Marie
