Ovarian Cancer Symptoms

I have read so much about Ovarian cancer and Endimitriosis. It looks like just they both have similar symptoms and tests are certainly needed to diagnose.  I have had my symptoms for 2 years now and they are getting worse. I've seen my Gyno and I'm getting a transvaginal US next week.
My symptoms are as follows & they seem to be off and on all throughout the month: Severe pain in pelvic area with a twisting feeling of my ovaries, sharp pain in the pelvic area, cramping, pains that radiate from the pelvic area to the front of my legs and hips, pain in the rectal area, painful bowel movements during the first couple days of my period, indigestion and loss of appetite.  Has anyone had the same symptoms and if so, what was your diagnosis? I'm either thinking ovarian cysts or Endomitriosis.  Help!!!!

Thanks!
Sberry

I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrom proven by ultrasounds, however i dont display the usual symptoms e.g. hair growth
acne overweight, after suffering from uti frequently and severly reacuring more than 3 times a year (this year i have had more than 3 already OUCH!) my doc whom i have been seeing for past year wants me to have a laproscopy cystoscopy to check for endimitriosis of the bladder
i have no record of this in my family histor, as mentioned in the first post exactly the symptoms i have but in all that i have the uti which i have treated with pain killahs and antiobiotics even though an urinary infection is not present in my urine! my gyno put me on a low dose of the pill called yasmin which is great becaus it doesnt give me the side effects i was experiencing with other pills, this hormone solution was the last before laproscopy is after 3 months the pain does not persist
4 months later of taking Yasmin i have pain which is worse than ever
the other nite i felt my ovary protruding from my stomach when i was in bed it was scary thats the worst it has been, im on pain killers yet i still feel the imense pain so i wonder what it would be like without the painkillers, im only 26 and i find it strange to have this problem so early but they only get worse im gonna wait it out but i have heard the ovarian cysts can burst so i may end up in the hospital if the pain is any worse
by the end of this week, its hard to say what the diagnosis will be once a laproscopy has been done, but it is definitly nothing to do with my bowel as my doc ruled this out with a colonoscopy endoscopy which did find a Polyp which if unleft can turn cancerous so lucky i had that at all really,

Hello everyone,

I am so scared for my 62 year old mother who we are taking  today to see if she has oc. She started losing weight over the summer and assumed it was because she had retired in January and was depressed over not being a work. Dad and I tried to get her to go to the doctor but she didn't listen. Fear. Soon, she noticed that her body was doing that postmenopausal switch to having a big belly. However, in the last month, her upper adomen has swollen too. This finally got her scared enough to go. I'm so scared as I'm wondering does this mean she's at stage 3 or stage 4? I'm a wreck and having been reading everything I can in the last 24 hours on the internet (and most of it is not positive). Thanks for your prayers for my family!

I have the same symptoms.  They found a large tumor on my right ovary not too long ago.  It's going to come out this week.  I would get the US done...and if it comes up with anything I would ask for an MRI.
Good luck.  I'm glad you're looking into it. ;)

Get your transvaginal ultrasound done immediately.  Also be persistant on a ca-125.  Norm range is below 35 for a CA-125, I went to 4 doctors before I was finally diagnose with ovarian cancer stage 3C, the first thought it was indigestion, the next two thought it was IBS and finally I went to a gyn and he performed a transvaginal ultrasound and lo and behold I had a growth the size of a softball.  Symptoms are different for each person but you will have cramps, almost like your having a baby and it wants to come out. Another thing that I had was stomach aches and nausea. I carried and lived with the pain for a whole year before I was diagnose and if someone would have listen when I first complained I probably wouldn't have been a stage 3C. My surgery to remove the growth was done in Oct 2000 started chemo, kept the faith and laid the problem at Gods feet and continue on like normal. Cancer went into remission in April of 2001 and to date I'm still cancer free.  Another web site that is good for ovarian cancer info is NOCO National Ovarian Cancer Organization. www.noco.org.  there are many great forums that is provided by searching the web but there is nothing like folks right in your own area.  Please don't hesitate and be persistent another good thing is a PET which is a scan like CT.  Here is another great site to help you also:  http://ovariancancer.jhmi.edu/home.cfm,  take your time write down questions to ask your doctor, also write down any symptons that you are having.  One thing that I didn't realize during my time of looking for a solution to my problems is that I forgot to mention that I would be seeing spots or what I called them was little gold stars crossing my vision. Something like shooting stars, I had a black out while driving on I95 and lucky i was near a exit ramp and realized that something was wrong and pulled over, otherwise my mind can just imagine what would have happen if I didn't pay attention to my body.  So go see a doctor and don't stop till they solved your problems or find the cause.

Your symptoms could indicate ovca, or benign ovarian cysts like endometriomas or dermoids or others, or benign ovaria tumors, or fibroids (especially fibroids on the ovaries; yes, they can indeed form there as well as the uterus), as well as a severe case of endometriosis.  That is one of our problems with such conditions -- they all have the same basic symptoms regardless of whether they are benign or malignant.

I can tell you that your comments about the rectal pain and painful bowel movements read just like the sad stories my cousin used to tell about her monthly cycles.  She also had rectal bleeding each month when her cycle started.  Her endometriosis was so bad that as soon as she and her husband had children, she had a hysterectomy at age 33 just to be done with the monthly misery.
