Ovarian Cancer and Brain Tumors

My Aunt (49 years young) was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian Cancer October 8th (same day my dad died of lymphoma, rough year)  anyway...she did  3 bouts of chemo and they got most of it except for a small dime size hot spot they call it in her pelvic area....She had a siezure Wednesday and they now found her brain riddled with cancer and tumors!  has anyone hear dof ovarian cancer leading to tumors in the brain?  She is getting radiation today..but I'm afraid that the extent of the tumors and cancer are way too big.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers...we are hoping and praying that the radiation helps..however we are realistic regarding the percentages.  I feel strongly that the chemo played a part in making this situation worse.  The more education I get the more strongly I feel that the chemicals need to be eliminated for the body to fight the cancer...We are helping her with a good diet and supplements (natural) to boost her immune system...let's pray.   Steve H....your story is touching and I salute you for the strength, love and support you have given.

My wife Violet had brain mets from ovarian, they treated her with Gamma knife followed by full head radiation, this was in 2005, she was given a full all clear and never had reoccurance in her brain, however it did spread to her lungs, and she lost her hard fight in Jan this year, a flight of nearly 7 years, stage 3-Steve

There were a couple of women that posted on this site with mets to the brain.  One of them Freshair we recently lost, BUT....at the time of her death, like she would say, "upstairs was clean it was down below that there was trouble".  Helen (Freshair) lived for 5 years with Ovarian Cancer, stage IV, she lived a productive happy life, trying as best she could not to let the cancer control her life or who she was.  She was 53 when she passed.
Spreads to the brain are rare, less then 1 percent, but, it can happen.  And remember that someone always has to be on the winning side of the stats, no one knows who that will be....it could be our aunt...it's not going to be an easy fight. She is lucky to have a neice that cares so much!!!!
Good luck to you both and please keep us posted!!!

My best friend had breast cancer mets first to the optic nerve and then throughout the brain. I understand ovca and breast cancer are considered somewhat similar.

Best~

How awful for you and your poor aunt.  The doctors should be able to tell if the brain cancer was metastatic from the ovarys.  Hoping she is not in a lot of pain.
