Ovarian Cancer and Chemotherapy

I have one doubt which will be gone i hope so with your answer. I am 22 years old and before two months I had surgery. Diagnosis was Ovarian cancer: Cystadenomcarcinoma serosum ovarii (PT1a).
Cancer was 11x7x9mm. Now I receive only citostatic Carboplatin in my Chemotherapy. Somehows, I don't have Confidence in that citostatic. Can you tell me little more abouth it. Is that strong suficient for my diagnosis? What results are in use with this disease?
Thank you very much
Dada

Thank you everyone for the answers. I asked some doctors and also I have been reading for last few day some med. articles and I find out that for the stage Ia and Ib usually there is no need for the chemotherapy. Unfortunatly. Anyway, I would like to get standard chemo taxol/carbo because it is the best and I with that I would not live in the fear that I feel now. I think all the time that the cancer will be come back on other ovarian or some other organ.

Before the surgery, I had very strong pain in stomack and left ovarian, also headache all the time and I felt tired (before that, I never felt tired in my life because I am a person with a lot of energy). Also, my CA 125 before the surgery was 69 (normal rang is 35), couple days after was surgery was 34.1 and now after first chemotherapy was 12.

PS. Everyone sorry on my bed english, it is not my first language (I live in Europe, Balkan).

I was stage1, grade 2 (I assume that's the same as 1b). My oncologist said that at that stage, chemo was optional. She said that my life expectancy would be the same with or without but that chemo would lessen the risk of a recurrence. She said had I been stage1, grade1 then chemo would not be recommended. I am seeing a gyn/onc for followup and she was surprised I had opted for chemo. Bear in  mind that there are risks in chemo. I have neuropathy in my toes even though I'm four months from my last chemo. I would imagine that I will have it forever. I have a bit of chemo brain, too.

Hi
You said you are a herb person. I am finishing my treatment in dec.
carbo/taxol . (6) i would like to know  what other herbs of vitamins should we take to rebuilt our immune system? And also do you know if it takes a long tine to rebuilt?
thanks for your help
and to dada000: i had grade 1 stage 1 c and they give me carbo/taxol .
with your 1A it was as a precaution that they give you carbo. If you,re CA125 is ok
and if you take a blood test every three months, it should be ok i guess.
gook luck!

As you were diagnosed with stage I, that may be the reason for your Dr only giving you Carboplatin. It is as a precautionary measure. But if you still have your doubts, you might consider talking with another Dr and see what his opinion would be. You could also go to the expert forum here at medhelp (on the forum content page, see Ask the Doctor) It may take a bit for you to get an answer but it may help put you at ease.

Usually Taxol would be given in addition. It comes from the Yew tree. Although this other company came up with a synthetic version of it.I'm not sure if its on the market, yet.Hope you get the real Taxol. Thats standard therapy fist given after surgery.Ask your doctor. And often when my mom was sick I called the american cancer society, they send any information you need, very helpful. 1-800-ACS-2345.Your so young, thats good as far as beating this.I'm so sorry. I'm really an herb person,Bromilin, a pineapple enzyme they say makes the chemo work better. My mom was taking this half way through. Even the doctors said what ever yor doing keep doing.Ask for a cell rebuilder after chemo. What stage and grade is your cancer?Best of luck to You
