Ovarian Cancer research- where to donate?

My mom was diagnosed last year.  After a tough year, she is doing well.  My wife and I wish to donate to an appropriate organization focusing on research for early diagnosis, treatment and the cure.  Which is the "best" organization out there?

Many thanks to all you wonderful folks for the information.  I never knew there were so many organizations out there researching OVCA.  If only they could combine forces and funding...   I will take a look at them soon, make a decision, and make on a donation on my mother's behalf (who has her second 3-month post chemo Dr. appointment tomorrow).

I just read an article in WIRED magazine about the work the Canary Foundation is doing and it was absolutely fascinating. You could check them out. http://www.canaryfoundation.org/index.cfm

National Ovarian Cancer Coalition,Inc..
500 NE Spanish River Blvd.,Suite 8
Boca Raton,Florida 33431               Tel1-888-ovarian,www.ovarian.org

                            Mission Statement
The national ovarian cancer coalition's mission is to raise awareness and promote education about ovarian cancer. The coalition is committed to improving the survival rate and quality of life for women with ovarian cancer. When my Mom passed they sent 50 bookmarks and 50 pamphlets on the symptoms of ovarian cancer, they refused to charge me.I handed these out at my Mom's service, other women should know the early warning signs, even though they whisper, even in advanced stages at times. They also sent me all the inormation I needed during my mom's treatment.1-800-acs-2345,the american cancer society also helped me a great deal in finding meds that worked and sent various pamphlets on info, some of the women even spents hours researching info for my mother also. Its a toss up ,they all deserve funds to keep helping with the fight!God bless,Jen

I apologize for referring to your wife when it is your mother you wrote about. Not sure if it is chemo brain or just being a dingbat! My apologies.

I'm glad to hear your wife is doing well. Another organization is the Women's Cancer Research Foundation.  http://www.womenscancerfoundation.com/home.htm
I was diagnosed with OVCA IIIC in 2005 and have been on 2 of their clinical trials. They are passionate about their research and the attention and genuine care I have received is beyond words. I am a nurse and am so grateful for what they are doing. I am quite certain  I am alive today because of their studies. The research coordinator is Cherie Graham and she can be reached at 949-642-5165. Best wishes to you and your wife.

If you go to a web site: CHARITY NAVIGATOR.ORG, you will find that:
Ovarian Cancer Research Fund
14 Pennsylvania Plaza, Suite 1400
New York, NY 10122
has the best possible rating, 4 stars.  They are "dedicated to advancing research, raising awareness and finding a cure for ovarian cancer."
I am a surviver of OVCA and it is rather depressing what a little bit of resources this organization has to work with.  I am happy to hear your mother is doing well and hope she continues to do so.
