Pelvic pain, vaginal discharge, pain after sex, thign and leg pain

Hello,

I am 40 years old about a year ago I started to feel bloated and gassy. I wasl also experiencing vaginal discharge along with pelvic pain. My periods are regular but now I have noticed that the bron spotty discharge after my period lasts longer. I wake-up with headaches and now since May '09 have progressed to having thigh and leg pain which does not go away.

I have done  a lot of bloodwork. Had the CA125 in jan. '09, had pelvic utltrasound, had  Pap Smear in 10/09 came back negative, Had a laparascopy in June '09 that showed adhesions connecting bladder and uterus probably from my 3 c-sections. Had a colonoscopy and endoscopy in October showing only mild gastritis.

I continue to have all of these symptoms on a daily basis, they don'y go away. Despite all of the exams I still am very worried aabout some kind of cancer whether it be ovarian, or uterine, not sure. I am not living a health life because I am continuallu worried about all og the chronic syptoms I am experiencing.

Hi There
again, it is unlikely that something is being missed
There is a group of women who suffer from chronic pelvic pain. Sometimes doing a complete removal of the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries can alleviate the pain. However disappointingly, this surgery does not help all women with pelvic pain. For them, their pain must be in the nerve roots and really the best intervention is pain mangement such as: acupuncture, biofeedback, and so on
You should discuss these options with your doctor.
I hope that you feel better

Dr. Goodman,

I just had another pelvic ultrasound last week and results were that I had a cyst on my left ovary, nothing further. I am living in constant fear that something is being missed because of all the daily symptoms I continue to experience. Is there something else like a pelvic MRI or CT scan that you would recommend that may catch something otherwise not noticeable on a pelvic ultrasound?

Also, do you think that even though a laparascopy has been performed that soemthing inside the uterus or ovary could've been missed. Just looking for further advice.

Thank you!

Hi There
you have had a wonderful evaluation. Clearly, your doctor has been listening to you. The results are very reassuring.
Short of just doing a full hysterectomy out of fear that something is being missed, you should be reassured and should work with your practitioner on symptom management.
Given the good care you have received so far. I am sure your doctor will check you closely over time
