Is my weight gain a bad sign or am I being too anxious?

I had immature teratoma in early Oct. 2005 and have had multiple cysts on my remaining ovary (I had a RSO), including a benign cyst removed through laproscopy in April 2007. Between Memorial Day and the end of June 2008, I gained 12 lbs. I have never gained that much weight in that short amount of time! I do cardio for an hour and lift weights at the gym 5 days a week. I usually eat fairly healthy-lots of fruits and vegetables, etc., but I did indulge in a little bit of cake around my son's birthday during that time. The whole month of July, I restricted my calories to 1000-1200 a day and kept up my workouts, and did not lose one pound. I didn't gain any more weight, but I didn't lose any weight, either. I went on vacation for a week at the beginning of August so I didn't work out and wasn't as restrictive with my diet and gained one pound. I kept up my workouts and restrictive eating after vacation and lost the one pound that I gained on vacation, but no more. Then I was sick for 3 days and couldn't eat so I finally lost 7 lbs. After feeling better, I went out of town for my brother's wedding and gained 10 lbs. in 4 days. I have never had this much trouble with gaining and not being able to lose weight before. I had a painful cyst that dissolved around Memorial Day, and haven't felt like my ovary has really bothered me any more than it usually does since I had the cancer, and after my last ultrasound at that time, the dr. told me that I was okay, and that I don't need to go back for a whole year. I do kinda feel bloated a lot, though. My MIL thinks that it's bcps that are causing the weight gain, but I have been on the same kind since my first cancer surgery (although I did use samples of the brand name for May and June, then switched back to a generic of the same kind in July). I don't want the weight gain to be a sign of recurrance that I miss, but at the same time, I don't want to make a mountain out of a molehill. Is there any other reason why I'm having this problem?

I guess my bm's are fairly normal. I have been going a little more frequently than normal, but, other than that they are normal. I have never had any acid reflux problems since my first surgery.
