Ovarian cancer?

I have an extremely high ca-125 of 850. I have done an ultrasound and have two cysts located in my left ovary as well as a very large uterine fibroid. I have also suffered from endometriosis for the last ten years or so. I currently am 45 years old and have not reached menopause. Over the last few months I have experienced persisting pain in my uterus and heavy bleeding that have caused me to become anemic and lethargic.

Tess and gls are right on the mark!  It is important, however, you be referred to a gyn/oncologist as this is the person  specially trained to deal with these situations.  Don't be afraid to ask for a referral.....if your doctor is competent he/she won't be offended.  It is very important for you to see a gyn/oncologist.
Please do keep us posted.
Peace.

Isindelar is right -- endometriosis, among other conditions, can cause an elevated CA-125.  I'm sure your doctors will get to the bottom of it and give you some relief.

Good luck!

I believe that fibroids and endometriosis can both elevate ca-125. If your cysts are larger than 5 cm (I think that is the number) then you will likely be referred to a gyn-oncologist. Not because you have cancer but because your symptoms are better evaluated by this type of physician. If your ca-125 is elevated from the fibroid, endometriosis, or something else like inflammation or benign tumor (which really is the most likely scenario) - a gyn-oncologist will deal with that as well in many cases.

So in short, try not to fear the worst - and if you do have bad news, you'll have the correct care providers already working with you.

Wishing you the best.
