Ovary/Cyst Removal

Hello everyone will read and responds my question.

I am 22 years old. and in January 2008 they found an cyst in my left ovary. After a primary doctors visit. Obviously I had discomfort but I didn't have any sharp pains. After several test the cyst came up to 91/2 cm, that it is misshaping my uterus, destroying my ovary and moving my internal organs. My doctor says that it looks benign, but there is a possibility of cancer since my mom, had breast cancer. This news scared me to death. Although you cannot help it, you always think the worst. (Now I am more calm)

It's even more funny to say that at age 22, the last thing most us thinks, is whether or not we can have children. I never knew that I wanted a biological child so much. So my questions are this: When an ovary is remove, what are the possibility of you having children? what are the chances of your other ovary to be removed?

Please wish me luck my surgery is this Wednesday coming up!!!!

Hello,

I'm sorry that you have to go through this at such a young age. Although there is never, really, any good age to have a cyst. The good news is (like Pam said) that you should still be able to have a child. I just wanted to wish you the best for Wednesday. I'll think about you and hope that you bounce right back from your surgery. If you get scared or have questions before that day please visit us all here, again. We all know how scary the "waiting for surgery time" can be. The ladies, here, are very knowledgable and wonderfully helpful people. Good luck, honey.

Hugs,
Shari

Many many many women have children with just one working ovary.  The remaining ovary should even ovulate every month.  I had one ovary removed when I was 38, it took about 6 months, but, I began to get my period and ovulate every month.

Good luck on Wednesday....please come back and let us know how it goes.
