It can take a month or so to completely feel yourself again. It depends on how big the incision is and what organs they took. It is good to get some exercise. I had the whole hysterectomy, tubes, ovaries, omentum, etc.An Incision right down the middle. I said they gutted me like a fish. I was walking the block ten days after surgery. I walked slowly I did not push it. With my surgery they filled me with gas so I had to work the gas out that was the pain. I walked for hours in the house when I got home to work the gas out. It was painful. I had to hold a pillow against my stomach i I sneezed, coughed or strained.

Sorry you are going through this. Shame on them for not telling you more. As far as hormone replacement - Removal of one ovary can cause menopausal symptoms. Sometimes the symptoms are temporary but sometimes they are permanent.
Please get surgical recovery orders from your doctor. Do not overdo it - no strenuous work or exercise or lifting (they usually say for 6 weeks or so) as it can cause tearing of internal and external sutures and adhesions.
