PET_CT- HELP!

I know how accurate these are at picking up changes in cells, however no one can tell me how good they are AT determining the difference between inflammation and cancer especially after a radical debulking surgery followed straight by IP chemo?

information. . . .

Hi Mel, I live on the Goldie so have noticed your updates before. I am 4 weeks post-op for BSO for bilateral ovarian cysts, had uterus removed 8 yrs ago and this was my sixth abdominal surgery. Know all about the scar tissue, Qld public health, recovering from ops, waiting for results blah blah blah. When you say you are not coping, I know that is an understatement, hang in there girl, surely there has to be a reason why some of us have to keep copping this c--p. Do you still have any ovaries left???

Hi Pam,
Thanks for that, mine was PET-CT not sure if that makes a difference but yes i have alot of scar tissue and the small area that lit up was where my utuerus would be but is now gone. Funny thing is my count was up 2 weeks ago but had a bad kidney, bladder infection. My count has since dropped from 58 to 25? so im  just bloody over it all! I have already had 9 surgeries, im only 26 and this thing had already consued 4years of ongoing pain, surgery and recently chemo. i certaintly dont need this before xmas. Another laporoscopy just to be sure? i mean ARE YOU FOR REAL? sure cause i dont have a belly button left and have so much sacr tissue lets add some more! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! not coping !

Mel - hope all is well.  I can tell you that I have a friend, stage 3C.....went 2.5 years without recurring.  She had a PT Scan with sections that lit up on her liver and also around her colon.  The spots on her liver were OvCa, but, the spots near her colon were scar tissue.  There is a reason why PT Scans are not used regularly for OvCa, don't know what the reason is.
How are you doing?  What's going on with treatment, etc?
Pam
