Yes, Beach Gal17 is right
I did not mention iron supplement because I don't take any I am taking large quantity of Vit C it's so complicated...to explain what iron got to do with Vit C but does....a lot.
Cheers.Sunes..
Hello dinkrn79, It all depends on what supplements your wife is taking. One of the dangers of taking iron as a supplement is its ability to favour neoplastic cell growth. What this means is that iron is carcinogenic due to its catalytic effect on suppressing host defence cells and promoting cancer cell multiplication. Best wishes…
I saw a post answered by Dr Goodman and she said she does not believe that supplements would cause elevation of CA 125 but there is one thing that would: concoction made out of chinese mushrooms .
I am on 13 different supplements 3 times a day plus ALA plus NAC which are detoxifiers and my CA 125 is stable and I don't use any mushrooms.
Hope this helps.Sunes.
thanks to all especially alanpvegas for some insight its difficult to know whether its dying off or progressing thats the tuffest thing to deal with time will tell and its hard to deal with the unknown thanks for your input and support
no it's highly unlikely. one thing is to understand what the CA-125 test actually is...it's FDA approved use is only for the monitoring of ovca treatment...then again it's only as good as your oncologist thinks it is because the number may *not* be a good indicator for her in response to treatment...it's subjective that's why other tests are used as well (such as ct).
Also the CA-125 test is measuring the (I'm gonna make this non-scientific) flaking or dead surface readings of ovca cells. So it's not really actually measuring the amount of ovca in the body, but the byproducts of this cancer as it either progresses or dies off. so it can be they are dying off or progressing...either way i would not worry too much (that's easier said that done since ca-125 is the only test you routinely get) because like I said it all depends on how it relates to her specifically...everyone is different when it comes to this test. the scans and a few months of monitoring will determine this for your oncologist.
I also was told that the inflammation from my surgery would or could raise my ca 125.. Supplements will not raise it..make sure her oncologist knows she was taking supplements/ I was not allowed even a vitamin... Best of luck.
It may be the inflammation from the surgery. Pre-surgery of 15. After surgery, it spiked to 68. Now it has dropped to 11. The doctor told us to expect a 'spike' after the surgery.
I can't imagine the supplements caused a rise in her CA125; but you do need to ask her oncologist if she should be taking them. During chemo some supplements are to be avoided all together. I wish you and your wife the best .
Peace.
