Pathology Report

I am 57 years old. and went to ER last week with some sharp pains and found I had a bleed from a vein.  They did CT scan and found enlarged right ovary.  Did laproscopy and bagged and removed ovary without rupture.  Pathology report came back with FIGO grade II endometrioid adenocarcinoma of ovary (ovarian cancer) Fallopian tube attached was benign.  By CA125 was 121.  I am going in for complete hysterectomy and debulking soon.  Have first appt. with gyn/oncolog. on the 12th and then hopefully schedule surgery soon after.  Am anxious about the wait time!  I'm so afraid something may be spreading while I am waiting.  I think some of this report has some good signs that it may be Stage I or II (didn't have any bloating, etc.)  CT scan is clear and the doctor didn't see any evidence (visually) of other organs being involved...other ovary and uterus looked normal.  This is so scary but do I have reason to be optimistic about this pathology report so far?

Thanks for the encouragement!  It is so hard to be thinking so positive because I'm just afraid I'm going to get kicked in the gut again.  It was so hard to hear the report from the doctor the first time...I am probably one of the healhiest people (well...was!) eating right, exercising all the time...I feel like my body totally betrayed me!  I'll keep you posted and I wish my surgery was tomorrow already!  Every twinge and ache makes me jump!

I'll keep in touch!

with the removal of the offending ovary and the "all clear" on the tube and a TAH scheduled, you sound like you caught this early. The elevated CA125  could have been from the diseased ovary only,  Will be interested in a follow up with you, it sounds like you will be one of the lucky ones. Stage 1 is so treatable and "curable',  100 kids. wow, you are a busy lady and it sounds like so much fun.  You will be in a healing time of 4 to 6 weeks, so use this time to get things ready for that.  Good Luck  Marty

Thanks for the uplift!  The wait is the worst and I am trying to work and keep busy!  I have a children's theater company so that is keeping me occupied...with 100 little kids!  I'm hoping it was found early but you just never know and that has me bitting my nails!  I'll keep posted on this website.  It looks like a good supportive forum of women.  My best wishes to you too!

It sounds like everything was found nice and early.  Hooray!  I'd be anxious about the wait time, too.  Just hang on.  There was no rupture, and if your CT scan is clear, then you are very, very lucky! In the meantime, buy a few movies to watch during your recovery.  I did jigsaw puzzles during mine. : )

Best wishes to you.  Kathy
