Hi, jope all is well. My mom, for as ever as I can recall has suffered from both ovarian cyst and cystic breast changes since she was premenopausal. She also has fibroids that they though grew slighlt after menopause four years ago, but surgeon said there has been no more growth and fibroids are stablized. However, she went to the ES for bowel pain from her IBS. Dr. said all looked fine, but to follow up with GYN for a pelvic mass (2. cm). Now I am extremely worride since she is post menopausal. All I read online is that post menopausal cyst are usually malignant. My mommy has 7 sisters and no one in her family has had ovarian cancer or any cancer for that matter.
Is there a possibilty of having a benign pelvic mass after menopause? COuld they have possibly seen the fibroid which measured 2 cm in the CT Scan and called that a pelvic mass?
She has been to the Dr. in previous years and they always order a TVU and CA-125. Is there a reason why they do this. She was a first time patient, is this routine?
Is that a typical screening method for some Drs?
Please help, I suffer from GAD and knwing that her yearly checkup is on Monday is not allowing me to sleep.
Thank you in advance for your response.
