dermoid cysts

i have known i have had a deroid cyst now for like 6 years i ws supposed to get it removed after the birth of my daughter witch is now 5 and did not now i am pregant again 15.5 weeks i have had sever pain twice in the same week i went to the hosptal the first time it happend and they sent me home and said it was just stretching of my insides so the baby can adjust i went home but the pain lasted 12 hours i left it becuse what they had told me on sunday afternoo i woke up with the same pains but only worse they checked it out and said they think my cyst had twisted and was cutting of my blood supply they rushed me from smiths falls to ottawa by ambulance i was there for three days and two nights my pain lasted like almost the whole time they were going to give me surgery after doing an ultrasound if something had been horribly wrong but it turnd out that my cyst had not twisted it was bleeding inside witch was making it expand and thats what was cuasing the pain they said that it 6cm by 6cm and they dont want to remove it unless it gets worse becuse its so close to the baby and they might have a chance of hiting my uterus or bowl i was just woundering whats going to happen if it left in there will i keep experianceing thi horribly dredfull long lasting pain will it settle by itself or what are they wrong should it be removed what will happen *** the baby gets bigger will i cause me more disscomfort im so scared the doctor gave me the wrong advice once are they wrong again im scared i dont no what to do or think im scared to bend and move around just incase the pain comes back hope ype you can help me out thank you so much sinceraly: jacqueline 23 years old

Wow!  Tough situation.  I guess they are wanting to leave it there because it has been so long.  But, I would think with the twisting they would be scheduling you for surgery.  Did you have it diagnosed as a dermoid through surgery?  If not, you can't conclusively tell what is going on with out surgical removal.  You really should have a consult by a gynecological oncologist because any complex mass can be cancer.  Even if it is just a dermoid, you run the risk of it rupturing and causing infection.   Your pain level and risk of rupture will likely get worse as your pregnancy progresses.  I would go for a second opinion now.  Are you near a major cancer center?  If so, could you get a referral to a gynecologic oncologist for a consult?  If not, try another gyn.  Insurance pays for second opinions and this is a case where I think it is warranted.  It is likely (given how long it has been there) benign, but, I wouldn't ignore the pain you are having.  I hope all works out well for you and baby.
