Re-staging?

I have completed 3 chemo treatments (Carbo/Taxol) and am scheduled for a CT scan next week.  On the order, it gives the reason "ovarian cancer re-staging."  I was under the impression that once you're staged, that's it.  Am I wrong?

perhaps he is trying to see what the chemo has succeeded in during by having them tell specifically where the tumors are and the size. Or if there is any visible.  Has your number gone down.  sometimes what they say and what they are looking for are two different things

good luck

Sometimes my Onc will use what ever he can to get a certain test ran without problems from the insurance company. You are right though, once you are staged you are staged.  Maybe you should give a call to your Dr. and ask whats up??  Good luck~~Joanne

I have never heard of CT scan for staging.. some CTS can say it looks like cancer but it takes biopsies to read the cells... I don't know what they are looking for?? Perhaps you could call who ever ordered the test and ask... or ask the tech... I know people who can be restaged but that is only looking again at the tissue samples.... Not much help huh?
