Recurrent Perintoneal Cysts after ovary removal

I posted back in Jan about some abdominal swelling &discomfort I was having after my ovaries removed on 12/16 for a 10.5 cm cyst. (had hysterectomy in  1999)  I went for a follow-up on 1/30 & my gyn said my discomfort and swelling was probably gas and that I should start wearing support panties & it should help. So I started chewing Gas-X bought support underwear.  The following Friday 2/7 I went back for my surgical follow up and he found a mass.  Was immediately admitted to the hospital and had a CT scan which showed a large cyst.  It was drained on 2/10 & I was sent home.  A week later I felt the same discomfort, called the MD and he said to get an ultrasound done & it showed a mass of fluid AGAIN after only 10 days!!! This time it was only 5 cm. It was drained a week later & when I went to see him this past Friday - he told me that if it recurrs I will need to see either a general or GI surgeon whom he will recommend.  Well - guess what - I have the same discomfort & bloating.  Am I losing my mind?!?  Could it really be back?  Has anyone heard of this?  I am going for an ultrasound on 3/14 - maybe they'll find nothing? Then I'll know I've lost it.  I return to work on 3/15 - need to - I'm going nuts sitting at home.  Please help if you can!

I am confused! If there is a cyst and they drain it but do not remove the cyst itself,  what IS to keep it from refilling with fluid? Why do they just drain it?   Cindi

i was diagnosed with endometiosis at age 12, at age 19 i had the first of my 25+ surgeries to include a hystorectomy at age 24.  i have had my ovaries removed on a numerous occassion, the last time being oct. 05 since then my left ovary has been found again.  i have been diagnosed with ovarian remnant syndrome and cant find much on it.  i have seen 40-50 doctors in pa and ny and all send me away, some say its in my head, some say my condition doesnt exist, some say my pain is phantom pain and some say im a drug seeker. i even had one tell me to see a counselor and get hypnotized and all my problems will go away.  in the menatime my pain is increasing in intensity and never goes away. any ideas or suggestions as to where to go for good help?

Gosh, I can't tell you how glad I am to find this site!  I too have been suffering with recurrent ovarian remants.  I had parts of both ovaries removed in high school - 20 years ago - due to cysts/dermoid, etc.  Then, in 2003, I had a total hysterectomy with both ovaries removed due to endo and massive cysts.  The left ovary was embeded in my abdominal wall and all adhered to m y ureter and artery (don't know name of it).  Dr. told my hubby and mom that I'd have to have a repeat surgery in years to come as he couldn't be sure he got all of the left ovary.  Well, 11 months later (in 2004), I had abdominal surgery (this time out of town as the GYN who did previous surgery wouldn't touch it again and referred me to GYN Oncologist at the University of FLorida Shands Hospital).  Guess what....same pain/pressure returned in 8 months!!!  Does anyone else know how to describe the pain - I try but it's hard to describe other than a pain/crampy/pressure.  Any way, I had another abdominal surgery in 2005 to remove the remnant by the GYN Onc at Shands again.  All lab tests came back in 2004 and 2005 as ovarian tissue, no endo.  Now, only 5 months post-op, I'm back on pain meds and my ultrasound from last week revealed another left ovarian remant, this time bigger than it was when they operated 5 months ago.  I'm loosing my mind!  I feel like I'm a hypochondiac and my hubby and mom are supportive, but this gets old.  I sometimes just want to run away but I have no where to go!  Does anyone know of any specialists who treat ORS?  Has anyone heard of radiation being used and the results?  I need to get this resolved, but my mind, body and finances can't take another surgery at this point.  Although I can't live with the pain.  I'm only 37 and I should be enjoying life and I'm too beat by the end of the day, I can't really be there for my family (have a 7 year old little boy).  Thank you for letting me vent - from the posts, it sounds like you all can relate.  Kim

Well - here we go again!  I think there is another cyst forming. This will be the 3rd time!!!  There is peritoneal pain and pressure. (a polite way of saying pain in my crotch area) And my lower back and pelvic area.  I have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow evening - but that is if my 'script arrives in the mail.  Otherwise I have to wait until April 5.  I went back to work 3/15 (was off since 12/14) had an ultra- sound the day before I returned to work  (3/14) and there was no signs of any cysts, now 2 weeks later I am in all this pain. I have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow if the 'script comes in the mail - if it doesn't I have to wait until April 5. Can any one give me some encouraging words?  My gyn/onc is going to recommend wither a general or GI surgeon.  I can't understand why he is going to pass me off.  Does he feel there is nothing more he can do?  I don't understand. I will let you know how the ultrasound goes.

Hey. I'm from UK but found this site and it sounds exactly whats happening to me! 5weeks ago I got diagnosed with a very large ovarian cyst (the size of a melon apparently) I had had it for years just my doctor never noticed. For years I have been complaining of feeling sick, abdominal pain and most of all, weight gain. I have been so bloated for countless years. But recently I got really bad pressure on my bladder etc, which led to the diagnosis. I had the operation 3 weeks ago (03/20) apart from the terrible pain, I felt great and although still swollen, I definately see a difference in my weight after so many years. I now have the pressure on my bladder again, it is an incredible pressure. I feel like I need to urinate constantly. I was checked for a urinary infection, but it came back clear, I have since made an appointment with my consultant that performed the op to see what is wrong. but does anyone have any advice meanwhile? Thanks, Rosie.
