Relay for Life, Dunedin

I went to our local Relay for LIfe last night.  I did not walk .. not enough energy after 5 straight days of topotecan.  I did, however, light a few luminaries.  One was for Jan, Leslee, Cindy & Donna .. chemo brain kept me from remembering more names.  Another was for my Cyber Sisters here. It is held at a ballfield and the entire outer rim is a row of luminaries.  Then the lights go out and it is such a moving tribute.   I just wanted you to know that I think of all of you often and you are in my prayers.

I thank you also for including Leslee, we have one coming up  next month and our entire family is going,  Just today I went out and put an angel on her grave, it has a place for a small bouquet of flowers,  also added her picture to the stone, we had been debating about which one to place there, we haven't decided yet about the recording, we have several of her voice,  it will probably be a part of her good bye talk with her clients, they are all mentally challenged adults.  Her daughters are adding a small bench with a poem about "Come sit with me a while and rest"  It is still very hard for me to go there,  her brothers drop by often.  Marty

Hi Judy,

What a great tribute to those ladies.  My local Relay for Life is this coming Friday night, and I have purchased luminaries for some of the ladies, too.  I wasn't planning to go this year, so I didn't sign up in time to get a t-shirt or a medal, but that's okay.  I feel better honoring those who can no longer fight anyway.  The ceremony is one of my favorite parts because you're right...it's a moving and emotional thing.

Hope you are feeling a little better today.  Prayers are being said for you, as well!

Gail
