Hiya
Did you end up seeking another opinion? Mine was 8-9cm ...and he never said that it would DEFINATLY be removed ..he said he wouldn't know until the operation...but that was also because, from the u/s he wasnt able to cleary see if it was seperated from the ovary...lucky it was seperate...
anyway...my auntie was told she had to remove hers...but second opinion was a no...
good luck
It's not really an emergency to have it removed right away, but the longer it goes on the more chance there is that it could rupture or have a torsion. It's likely not going to go away on it's own, so yes... you need to get it removed.

Hi and welcome. Due to the size of your cyst, it will probably not resolve itself and therefore needs to be removed. It is possible to save all or part of the ovary and it will continue to function normally. Have you gotten a 2nd opinion from a gyn/onc? I highly suggest that you do. They are specialists in women's gyn issues and have seen it all. Although 99% of ovarian cysts are benign, you would be wise to continue to seek medical treatment. Keep us posted!
