Hi Kerry,
I just plain old blows you are having to go through this again. You spend months sometimes worrying that it will come back, and then where there is a possibility of it, you still aren't prepared. If you have a laparoscopy as exploratory, then yes, it would take less time to heal since it is minimally invasive. I didn't have exploratory surgery per sae, but was having a lap to remove my gallbladder when my recurrence was found. I healed quickly. If this is necessary for you, your doctor should talk with you about the "what if's"..i.e. if they find something surgically removable, would they open you up and take it, or, if it would be too risky to remove anything for fear of it spreading, etc. Anyway, that's putting the cart way before the horse. Hopefully this will turn out to be nothing. But in the meantime, I wish you much peace as you deal with this. Best wishes to you, and PLEASE keep us updated.
Gail
I'm thinking of you ...call me anytime.
This last surgery of mine was considered exploratory. They made the incision across instead of vertical though due to the tumor near the liver. Recovery was not bad at all. They gallbladder removal caused the most after pain, but even that was tolerable. I hope the PET results are good. Marie
Hi Kerry,
Waiting for test results is so stressful, especially if it can lead to life changing medical events. I assume that your doctor will have the results early in the week, call and try to get them ASAP, Of course let us know.
I did not have exploratory surgery, my trans.vaginal ultrasound and elevated CA125 showed that there definitely was an ovarian mass that had to be dealt with.
I also had symptoms of OVCA, bloating, weight loss, no appetite after a small amt. of food and frequent urinating.
My recovery from surgery was about a month, port and chemo followed.
Of course we're hoping that you get good news from your doctor, and that there is no malignancy. Please keep us informed.
Good luck,
Jane
