Serrated polyp reoccurrence

Having had a serrated polyp removed approx three years ago and being a breast cancer survivor......can you enlighten me as to future reoccurrence of these polyps? I understand that they are usually right sided and "once again" .... I'm occasionally experiencing discomfort in that area. Are there any other symptoms? You were very helpful to me in the past and I truly appreciate having you there.TYIA

Hi There,

colonic polyps come in all different flavors.

here is a link

http://www.mayoclinic.org/colon-polyps/polyp-types.html

Some are precancerous and others are benign.  One of the things to ask your doctor is whether you could be at higher risk for colon and uterine cancer.

There is a family syndrome - hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer HNPCC where family members have a high rate of those three cancers. Ask your doctor about genetic screening

Hi Dr. Goodman: Thank you once again for your response. The serrated adenoma was in my colon.

Hi there
where is the polyp located?
In the uterus? Are you on tamoxifen? tamoxifen is associated with uterine polyps and occasionally with cancer of the uterus

in general uterine polyps are benign but you need a D&C and hysteroscopy to remove it
best wishes
