Should I be worried?

I've had the symptoms that I thought were related to IBS, but a few weeks ago I was having pain so bad I couldn't hardly walk and it was off and on every day for over a week. I also had sharp shooting pains in my pelvic area.  So I started researching and found the symptoms of ovarian cancer, I have a lot of the same symptoms including non stop lower back pain, abnormal heavy menstral flow that has led to anemia, and pressure on my bowels.  I've had a lot of these symptoms for quite a while though.  Ever since I had my baby who will be two soon.  I even had some symptoms before I had her but nothing like now.  Now they are much more consistant. But I don't necessarily have them every day, with the exception of the sharp pelvic pains which I have least once or twice nearly every day, but they come and go quickly. Is it really IBS and back problems and heavy bleeding. How long can you have these symptoms and it still be cancer? Should I be worried?

Hi,
They are both right.  Talk to your doctor; when you do, ask him about a supplement called Acidopholus.  It is a natural product containing millions of bacterial organisms which our bodies require in order to digest food. I got IBS throughout chemo--ugh!  Wish I'd known about the stuff.

Now, I take it every day, and don't get IBS anymore.

It can't hurt.  If  it relieves your pain, then you'll feel much better and have great digestion!  If not, then at least you'll know that the pain is not IBS.

Oh.  One more thing.  Pain from cancer is constant, not recurrent.  I hope this is encouraging!

Best of luck.

Shari is right. You do need to see a doctor. Pain that excrutiating should not be ignored. Your body is trying to tell you something. It is probably something minor, but you need to know for sure. Good luck, Marie

Hi,

Have you been to your doctor telling him'her of your symptoms? That would be your first step. The doctor would probably order a ct scan and a vaginal ultraosund if they thought you may have a cyst or tumor. Before you start to worry, too much, I would make a doctor's appointment and voice your concerns. In the mean time, keep in mind that ovarian cancer is relatively rare and you probably don't have it.

Keep us posted, and feel free to post with any questions.

Take care!
Shari
