Halo everyone i am new in this forum. I got an 56 year old auntie who have been diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer which hasn't spread to other organ yet. She started off with chemotherapy. Is chemotherapy only going to cure her?? How many years does she have left ??

Jason,

Sorry to hear about your aunt... My mother has been dealing with stage 3C for over 3 years now.... I agree with Joanne, my mom did have surgery including debulking. Do not think about the time that is left.  Live it day by day and be there with her as much as you can.  Support from friends and family is so important.  Welcome... Sylvie from Canada...

Usually there is a debulking surgery that has to happen as well.  Some Onc  do a couple of chemo cycles and then surgery followed by more chemo and some Onc do the debulking surgery followed by 6-8 chemos.  Either way is an acceptable way of treatment.  No body likes to give a timetable of life or death.  You just never know.  I know of ladies who are still around 21 years later, others have recurrences, treat and then continue to live their lives.  Your aunt is lucky to have you.  I hope all goes well for her,you can come here and feel free to ask as many questions as you want....welcome!!!~~~Joanne
