Surgery Scheduling

Just wondering how long it took from the time your doctor recommended a laparotomy before the hospital calls to schedule the surgery.  It's been a week and no word...wondering if this is a normal timeframe...

Depends where you are. I was fast tracked yet it was still almost 5 weeks.

I was told this last Wednesday that I was going to have a laporotomy. They contacted me the next day and scheduled it for Tuesday next week. So, I guess it was one day for them to call and 6 days until my surgery. I would call them to ask because I would be going stir crazy not knowing. Good luck.

I was very fortunate in the fact that when my doctor finally gave the go ahead for my laparotomy, his assistant scheduled the surgery right there.  Since then, I have been called in for an earlier date (next Friday).

I think the timeframe all depends on where you are, and your doctor's normal procedures.

Good luck!
