I posted the same question on the menopause forum(no replies)as i .too have had a couple of sweaty nights. I asked the nurse when i was in hosp how soon symptoms could start and she said"about now" and that was 3 days after surgery.I am nearly 3 wks post op now and they are not so bad.Get the odd one but will also say that the weather here in the uk is unusually mild for this time of year.I am a fresh air freak who likes to have the bedroom windows open even when its -5. That said DH was having a sweat last night so perhaps hes menopausal as well!Do you think that perhaps we are looking for it to start?.Dawn
I've had Night Sweats everynight since I've been home. I've had hot flashes as well, so menopausal stuff is heavy upon me. I'm already on HRT's which help...but even with the estrogen I wake up in a sweat each night. I have been having a low-grade temp since I've been back and the fever seems to break every night and then starts up again the next day.
Recovery is very slow for me this time around.
My doctor told me (after ovary removal) you don't actually have hot flashes for several weeks, that you still have hormones for a while, and that any hot flashes were from the anesthetic, recovery and pain killers! Yet he started me on the estraderm patch right away. It is working well, but it works much better with the addition of some bio identical natural progesterone cream.... I got a prescription from my GP and took it to a compounding pharmacist... I swear by it....
I found wine gives me hot flashes so badly I avoid it ... :(
After having my final ovary removed this spring I started sweating like crazy - especially at night - from the day I came home. My doctor put me on HRT and it helped a bit but he explained it's simply surgically induced menopause and sometimes it can come on right away (BTW I was 39).
After about 2 months of HRT it settled down . . . then my thyroid levels started freaking out so I'm back to night sweats and freezing during the day.
Isn't being a woman great?! :-)
It could be post op recovery, I suffered night sweats alot after my op and I was told it was too soon to be the menopausal stuff, the docs advised me the majority of healing takes place during the night so you run a temperature, bit like flu. I'm not sure when it actually stopped because the night sweats continued which were down to menopausal stuff.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
