Transvaginal Sonogram

Can a doctor see any abnormalities on the ovaries when performing a transvaginal sonogram?  And if your doctor sees a polyp in the uterus and wants to do another test called sonohystergram, is he looking for cancer of the uterus, endometrial tissue or ovary?

Hi There,
yes a trans vaginal ultrasound is a good test to look for abnormalities of the ovary or uterus. A sonohysterogram will show if there is a polyp with in the uterine cavity. the only way to diagnose a cancer is to take a biopsy or do a D&C (dilation and curettage) which is a very thorough biopsy

Dear Ain,
if you are feeling well, it is perfectly reasonable to take a break from chemotherapy. you have been through so much.

Probably the hemicolectomy has made you very susceptible to diarrhea. gemzar can cause diarrhea.
thank you for the follow up
best wishes

Dear Dr Goodman

I was dg as OC stage IIIc on april 2003, total hysterectomy, frst line chemo six cycles carbo-cyclophosphamide, an year latter surgery to extract inguinal limph nodes, a new line of six cycles of chemo carbo cyclophosphamide, a new reccurence an year later, a new surgery, hemicolectomy, more ten month of diarheea, a new surgery and then Gemzar I couldn,t support it
Now I am  escared to go to a new investigation. I stopped my horrible diarheea. I feel well ...only a pain in inguinal area...
