Penny, I absolutely agree with the ladies, you are entitled to every report and test result in your file. They have to give them to you.
Last week I realized that I didn't have my first CA125 and TVU from 2 years ago. I asked my GYN's office staff for copies and they took my chart apart and made me copies. The staff at your doctor's office is rude and being disrespectful to his patient. As Dian said, be assertive, but calm. They're dealing with a lady who is under stress and they're not being sensitive. You have a very important appointment with a GYN/ONC on Wed. and you must have all the test results to show him. Good luck, let us know how it goes..... Jane
you paid for them they are yours by law, demand them.
You own your medical records. You should march into the office and tell the receptionist you want a copy of everything in your file..... including all lab and radiology reports. I can get a copy of anything I want from my docs ! Be assertive but calm.
You are entitled to your own medical records !
Peace.

They dont want anyone to have them-not even the GYN/ONC. I have found a transvaginal that was done in 06(?)they couldnt find the ovary only fluid and waste in the pelvic- that Dr. said there was no problem w picking up the pics and notes. I had a CA125 test done (I dont even go to that Dr. anymore) they had no problems going back into my file and giving me a copy of it that was done in 06 also.
Thank you
I suppose that the doctor doesn't want to let the originals out of his hands. But surely he can make copies??? Pregnant women get sonogram pictures of their child in the uterus before they are born. They look like polaroids. It seems to me they could easily be copied.
The only other issue I can think of is the the doctor may want to give them to another doctor rather than to the patient. You should be able to get copies of reports, etc., but maybe not the originals.
Good luck.
I called to get the sono and notes from the OB Dr and they told me to call tomarrow becuz he is not in today. The lady told me he hasnt decided if I can have the sono films and notes. She said he doesnt have to give them to me. I have never heard of such a thing-but than I have never been in a sitution like this before. Can he refuse to hand them over to me? And why would he?
You are difinately on the right path.....hang in there, and keep us posted.
Peace.
