VEGF inhibitors

I assume VEGF inhibitors have some effect on cancer cells before a tumor appears but it isn't clear to me how that can be if it shuts down the abiliity to form tumors by restricting blood supply. Does it have effect on cells and if so how?

Thank you.

does anyone know how long angina from celebrex will last? I've been off it for 2 weeks and still have angina. Could it be permanent?

since their are much much more blood vessel formation in tumor than normal ones, there will be more VEGF than normal tissue. Avatin is an anti-VEGF antibody, will bind to VEGF, destroy the function of VEGF, no more blood vessel will be formed, starve tumor cells to death.  But right operation, there will be more blood vessel formation too, it is just one condition which is not suitable for Avastin. Go to Genetech website to find more info.
