Sometimes I wonder how these ONC's continue to "feel" anything about us. They deal with this mess day in, day out. I've wanted to shout, "hey, I'm a valuable human being here!" But, I just go through the motions of being a good little patient.

Ditto the run do not walk statement above. Besides the fact that he should not be examining you without another female in the room, shoulder shrugging is ridiculous. You have legitimate questions and that's how he treats you? Not the way to instill confidence in a patient. If you found one gyn/onc, you can find another one. Contact your State's Medical Association to get a listing. They'll give it to you. If you have problems getting it, let us know here on the site. I'm sure that we can help you connect with someone. You deserve the best doc, not a shoulder shrugger. Yeesh! Why are some doctors so stupid????

Run do not walk and seek better help.. If you have pain there is a problem.. I also have a surgical hernia that is not bothering me...If you must go to the emergency room in your town.. take care of this now... Ronni
I can't beleive he examed you alone! I have had female gyns exam me alone, but never a male. You need to be completely comfortable with your gyn/onc or it is time to switch doctors. I had twinges in my rib cage nothing close to pain and my oncolgists took it very seriously. I hope you get the answers you want.
Sorry I did not stay on computer after my initial post, We starting getting a pretty good thunder storms so I decided to get off of computer.
Thanks for responding, this doctor is or was my gyn/onc. I am so mad and upset, this is first appt. that my husband did not go with me. And when I think back to the other times I went to see him, he mostly just talked to my husband anyway. If he cannot talk to women I would think he is in the wrong business.
Thanks for listening.
Love,
Dawnlyn
This is only my opinion, but if I was having a lot of pain (any time but esp after surgery) and I asked my Dr about it and all he would do is shrug his shoulders, I think that would be the last time that I saw him. I have developed a hernia after my surgery too, mu onc said that as long as it was not causing me any problems then it should be ok. Yours is causing problems (possibly, if that is what it is) so he should be looking in to it.
You know when something is not right with yourself, and as your Dr he should listen to you and try to find the cause. I honestly think that if I were you, I would start looking around.
Is this your oncologist or gyn? Because when I see my onc, there is never anyone in the room but him and I. But I just looked back and saw that you recieved a pelvic. It is my understanding that during an exam like that, there must be a nurse in the room also. I could be wrong, but I have never recieved a pelvic with just the Dr in the room.
If you continue to be in a lot of pain, if you need to, go to the ER, but do not sit around in pain like that just because your Dr acted like a jerk.
