Waiting for diagnosis

One week ago I went to the ER for extreme pain in my groin.  Good news!  I have a kidney stone!  Bad news, they found a mass on my right ovary.  Trans vaginal ultrasound confirmed it.  Waiting for the CA 125 results, and am scared out of my mind!  Gyno app't. Tuesday a.m.  Biopsy, or straight to the surgeon for removal?  I don't know what to do next.  I am 59 and postmenopausal. No period for 4.5 years.

Let the doctor advise you.  But if there's going to be surgery, please have a gyncological oncologist involved.  Even if it's most likely benign, you want the best-trained, most experienced person with you.  Gyn oncs have years of extra training and will stage you properly if needed.

I'm a 1A (one ovary, no spread) and I'm almost at eight years since diagnosis.  The doctor doesn't expect any further trouble.  In your case, it's likely that this is benign or that it was caught early, so there's plenty of hope for a good result.  Try not to worry until you know what to worry about.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your support!  I am in contact with a good gyn/onc. I am just holding my breath 'til Tues. app't.  I will post again after that.  Thanks so much!

Please try not to worry too much, although I know that is easier said than done. You are on the right track with a gyn/onc and they will advise you on the best course of action. Let us know what they say on Tuesday and I am hoping and praying for the best for you.
