Went to GYN, everything in my head?

Hi ladies,  I posted a while ago and am just giving update.  After many cancellations of the gyn, I finally went in and her initial concern was that the hemorrhagic cyct should not be interfereing with my uterus and causing cramping and pain.  One is not related to the other she says.  Had a uteral biopsy and I went for hormonal and thyroid blood work.  All came back fine after the initial thyroid showed that my brain was overworking to get the thyroid to work,  except for a slight rise of white cell count.  She doesn't think that the biopsy will show anything (again because of my age) HAVEN'T WE HEARD THIS BEFORE?
I am still waiting to go for ultrasound.  4 months later.  I have finally come off BC which caused me to have my period for 63 days.  Now that has stopped for two days now.

So, her new dignosis is that I came in initially about cramping and not for menstral so she doesn't want to concern herself about that.  She is sending me to "a gut doctor" her words.  If they find nothing with my stomach or bowels then I could possibly be creating the problems mentally through stress.  Her belief is maybe chrones.

Here is my question.  I am curious about the ultrasound.  Why would she think that the ovaries are seperate than the uterus?  Does one not effect the other?  I still have cramping on the right and left sides.  When I lay on my side it almost feels like a running cramp.  I am haveing menstral cramping that is concentrated more to the right above my bladder.  I have no bowel problems that I know of, so I think the gut doc is wasting my time.  Any thoughts?

"Remember that doctors are only "practicing medicine" and 50% of them graduated bottom of their class."

My husband says that all the time ~ but it is always good to keep in mind :)

Also, I explained some more about my situation in a seperate thread called CT Scan vs. Ultrasound / Fact v. Opinion

Thanks for the reply!

Thank you for your support.  I can't believe the docs comment with your lumps being fat.  Rediculous! Those are the comments that make the long wait to see help in the first place frustrating.  Such a waste of time!  well, you hang in there and lat me know how things go.  There are some amazing women on here that are more than eager to help.

Remember that doctors are only "practicing medicine" and 50% of them graduated bottom of their class.  I am trying to find myself a new doc as we speak.

Take care, Natasha.

I feel fo ya ~ so far I have had two impatient, unsympathetic male ER doctors tell me my severe abdominal pain was not emergent & to take some advil. (One thought the masses in my ab/pelv were hematomas, the other thought they might be calcium deposits). My GYN thinks it's just fat. I have a CT scan that "suspects cysts" and an ultrasound that says "negative." I have a whole list of symptoms, conflicting tests and several "guesses"

At this point I am going to get second opinion & I also have an endo appt.

I hope everything works out for you :)

Thanks Anne, Tascha and ladies

Again you ladies are full of info.  I will ask to see a different GYN for sure.  I will have my US on the 22nd.  I will post when I find out on the 30th if anything new comes of the tests.

P.S. xrayu2 & miamigirl000 - I also had tubal ten years ago.  Urachal cyst removed from bladder two years ago.  Everything was normal until may. I am 34, and to answer the bowel question.  No problems, except during te period of my cyst bursting. (or at least that's what I thought I was going through.  All good since.

On a funnier note, like men I too have caught myself thinking that us women are aliens....how in the world do we menstrate for 60 days straight and live?

I agree with the other ladies, get anoter doctor ASAP.  I too had a doctor tell me that I was either depressed or having "phantom" pain since I have had both ovaries removed.  Since then I have been to 2 specialist and a Uroligist.  When they did a TVUS they found a mass, but no one wants to do anything about it.  I have has so many tests done this summer to see if it is bladder related, bowel related, or what.  All have come back normal, but the CTscan also showed the mass that the TVUS showed.  Now I am being refered to another doctor to see about an explortory surgery to find out if it is ovary remanedt syndrome (I have said this is the problem for the last 3 months).  Hope you find a doctor who will find your pain.  I have the same pain as you!!  I'll be praying for you.  Kasie

Hey there...dian here...YOU HAVE ONLY ONE CHANCE TO GET THIS RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.....find a gyn/oncologist and get this figured out once and for all...you are gambling with your future and that is never wise.....get in to see a gyn/oncologist and the guessing and games will be over.
Peace.

Ha!  Guts and butts...I love it!

Seriously, it looks pretty common to have women present with symptoms that are across the boards (like the ones for ovca etc) to have a colonoscopy, just to rule out other involvement.  If surgery is in the cards, the docs like to rule out gastro issues...just so that they don't find any surprises once they get in there.

I agree with Tascha...please get yourself to another doc, STRONGLY recommending a gyn/onc.  If you need help locating one, please let us know.  These are the men and women who are trained to deal with cancers of female reproductive organs.  They don't do double duty with obstetrics, etc.  You owe it to yourself to do this right the first time.  Many teaching hospitals and cancer hospitals are accepting self-referrals from patients.  Keep us posted, and let us know if you need any further help.  We're here for you!
peace,
Anne

i agree, u should find another doctor.

did u say that u don't have any bowel symptoms? no blood/mucus, no direhea or constipation? why on earth then would she say crohns??? I have ulcerative colitis, (similar to crohns) and those are my symptoms.

It is always a good idea to get everything checked tho, i was convinced that my problem was gyn, but in fact it was ulcerative colitis. This can be diagnosed by colonoscopy. Please do follow through on this. "gut doc" is the way they all refer to themselves, i guess they need to have a sence of humor...my gi office makes the girls in the office wear shirts that say "guts and butts" on fridays.....LOL

Really tho, find a new doc, but do follow up on the GI.

Get yourself another dr!!  Please make an appointment with a gyn/onc.  You need to find out what is going on and your present dr. obviously does not have a clue and is not willing to admit it.  If she is that way, you don't need her.  Find a dr. who is willing to listen to you and find out what is wrong.

I do not know your entire history but it sounds very similar to mine.  It is not in your head-that is her way of saying she does not know and is not going to waste her time trying to find out.  I started out with bilateral complex cysts, was scheduled for TAH/BSO but cysts "ruptured" after being watched for 6 months.  I had an exploratory lap done because my left ovary ovary had a solid mass, too.  Nothing could be found during the lap.  I continued to have pain and then the cramping started and began to be more frequent during the month.  I ended up with a a severe kidney/urinary infection recently.  I have yet to have an u/s since January, my lap was in Feb and my doctor's way out is to try bcps again(I bled 2 cycles straight the last time) or do TAH/BSO without knowing if indeed something is going on in the uterus. I have been unable to start my bcps, though because my period is now late.  I have had a BTL(tubal)and spoke with gyn yesterday. He said give my period i more week and if I do not start I need to come in for a pregnancy test.  I understand your pain and frustration-my gyn's explanation is that it is cyclic and hormonal.  Let me know what you find-I too was told that due to my age anything "bad" was unlikely(I am 31).
