I am a 61 female just had a U/S Pelvis complete-Transvaginal non ob. Findings were the following: "The Uterus appears normal in size and heterogeneous in echotexture measuring 7.7x2.9x3.8CM. The endometrial stripe measures 0.3CM. The right adnexa is enlarged measuring 6.8x5.5x5.1CM. There is a large 5.3 CM complex hypoechoic structure. Left adnexa measures 3.8 x 2.1x2.5CM. There are 2 small cysts, the largest measures 1.6CM. There is no free fluid seen. The right adnexa now appears larger in size measuring 6.8CM. There is a new complex hypoechoic right adnexal structure measuring 5.3 CM which is of uncertain etiology. " This does not sound good to me. My gyno is doing another sonogram in his office and a pelvic on Monday. Before this, I never even had the flu.
Ovarian cysts in post menopausal women need to be watched.
Please consider a 2nd opinion, prehaps with a GYN/Oncologist. They have 3 years additional training and their practice is focused on gyn issues, many of these conditions are benign, vs childbirth, etc. Remember, seeing a GYN/Oncologist doesn't mean it is cancer, they do treat many non-cancerous conditions.
Also, ask for a CA125 blood test....it cannot and does not detect ovarian cancer, but, if it is elevated, they might want to do additional tests, CT Scans or MRI's etc.
