Crazy, Sexy, Cancer...

Did that title get your attention?!  Just wanted to let everyone know of an upcoming documentary on The Learning Channel called "Crazy, Sexy, Cancer". I watched the trailer on the TLC website and it looks like a very thought provoking, inspiring show. It follows a 31 yr old woman as she learns she is diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer, and how she navigates the medical field and explores hollistic alternatives to fight her disease. It airs this Wednesday at 9pm on TLC.

I have posted a couple of times here but I'm mostly a lurker. I found this site when I was diagnosed with complex cysts 2 years ago and was told it "could" be cancer. I was one of the fortunate ones that it wasn't, but I will never forget what it felt like to be on the inside looking out. And I know that I could be in that position again someday with some other ailment and I won't be as fortunate again. The reason I had to post is because I watched the documentery last night and thought is was so inspiring to see how brave these women were in the face of this horrible disease, cancer. It is evil and it doesn't matter where it harbors in your body, everyone goes thru the same fears and sadness that they have to live with this beast. I am no stranger to cancer, I have lost many family members to this disease including my grandma and mother. My life will never be the same without them just as the life of those diagnosed will never be the same.......
I just wanted to tell all of you courageous women on this board that I am prayng for you and praying for a cure for this disease. Keep fighting....don't ever give up........

I loved it...thought it was inspiring, thought provoking and an all around amazing film. I hope everyone who is going through cancer themselves has a chance to watch it!

Thanks for letting us know. Should be a good show. After getting this disease and all the complications I feel so unsexy. This ovarian cancer has stole my sex life. I wish I could be "crazy, sexy with cancer."

I'm not as young as you, but don't consider myself over the hill at being diagnosed at 35 two years ago (by the way, tomorrow is my two year anniversary).  I, too, am looking forward to watching it and seeing what she goes through.  I plan to watch with a box of Kleenex at my side.

I am really looking forward to this show as well, I think you and I will relate well, due to our age.

It seems as though she is quite adament about alternative medicine...that's really the only option she is given, other than expieremental drugs. There is no set chemo for her type of cancer...
To each their own...just thought for young women like me who have cancer, it might be nice to see someone else who is going through many of the same things I am. Regardless of what your beliefs are about alternative medicine, I think this is more about the journey your taken on when you get told you have cancer...
watch it...don't watch it. Makes no difference to me.

I remember seeing that commercial too.  I'm not going to pass judgement, so hopefully her dive into the alternative world will show both (or many) sides of each treatment and not just one.  That's rarely done with documentaries, now, so we'll see what slant is put on it.
