I have never been on cytoxan, but was on Gemzar. I hope that this combination will do wonders for you. I will be thinking of you and hoping for the very best.
Love Chris
I had home health last yr when i did i.p chemo. I may have to do that. I can't find anything on the internet combining these 2. I am not sure where she came up with this.I dont know why i cant just finish with gemzar I am waiting for pt 2 of rd 3. My ca125 was 28. My dr. is kind of aggressive i think.
No, the Avastin is an IV, but it's not an approved drug for ovarian cancer. I have to pay for it, out of pocket and it's costing me (well, my parents...) $6000 per treatment. A lot to spend without a guarantee! I'm running out of options too. Have you talked to someone about having IV hydration? I know how hard it is too drink when you feel nauseated, but it helps with the nausea so much...ask your doctor about it. I'm told because my dose is so low, I shouldn't have all the problems I would, if it were a once every three week infusion. Would a low dose daily chemo be an option for you? Even Taxol can be in a low dose form. Even just to give your poor body a rest :) I hope you feel better soon...I've never tried Gemzar - I'm sorry it's been hard on you.
Take care,
Becky
thanks for your answer. I will get it iv wdith gemzar. I looked it up and saw the water thing. Its hard. for me to drink when i am nauseated. Plus the gemzar is bad on my red blood and platelets. I couldn't do chemo again today threre aren't any easy ones. She did say my hair may come out again. Is the avastin a pill also? she memtioned that once.
I am on cytoxan (cyclophosphamide) with Avastin right now. I'm only taking a low dose, 50mg/day in a pill. No side effects as of yet, but I make sure to drink lot's of water (as they tell you it can really irritate the bladder) and I always take it right after I've had some food.
Good luck!
