Is anyone on Avastin and Cytoxin,  does it work? Any side effects?

Has anyone had any reactions with Cytoxan and Avastin?  I have been on this regimen for a month and have found I have itching that started on my lower legs and I have had a few areas on my trunk and neck over the last week.  I see my onc. next week for Avastin #2, but started the itching when I was just on Cytoxan alone.  Many thanks!

Hi there...I completed 6 rounds of this drug combo (Avastin and Cytoxan) and have been off the drug since June with no progression of my disease. My tumors shrunk by more than half, but I had to discontinue the drug simply because the cost was too much (over $30,000) I will be starting the Avastin again next Tuesday, mostly because I'm having kidney issues due to a tumor blocking off my ureter. I continue to take the cytoxan pill daily with no side effects. I'm hopeful the drug will shrink my remaining tumors more, so that I will not keep having these kidney problems. I will most likely do another 6 rounds of the Avastin and see what happens, with a CT scan after every 2 cycles. I will do the Avastin every three weeks, although I believe the normal protocol is every other week.
Best of luck to you both...I had no real issues with Avastin at all, just fatigue.

I too, am starting Cytoxan and Avastin.  Cytoxan starts tomorrow and I have to wait for prior authorization for Avastin.  I had ovca dx. 10/15/96, one recurrence in 1999 and another 02/08.  Just completed 9 rounds of Carbo.  After round 8 CA-125 rose from 11 to 24 and now is 37.  My onc feels I have become platinum resistant as I was on Cisplatin/Taxol in 1996, Carbo/Taxol 1999, and recently just Carbo.  He also reassured me this is a very successful protocol and because I have only been on platinum based drugs, this should do well.  CT scan is completely negative.  So I'm hopeful!

Please let me know how your cat scan turns out.  I will probably  be starting avastin and cytoxin next Tues or Wed.  I've had doxil. CA 125 came down but Cat shows disease progression in liver and abdomen.  I am 42 years old and have been battling this rotten disease since Nov 2004.  Also had Breast Cancer in 2006.  (I'm BRCA 1 positive).  This is so scary and now don't know what to do or expect!  Thanks. ps. i will pray that your CAT scan is good.  xoxo

Hi there... I am on Avastin and Cytoxan (Avastin - 10mg/kilogram of bodyweight and Cytoxan 50mg pill daily). It's been well tolerated so far...no real issues. My hair hasn't fallen out or even thinned really, and my blood pressure has remained pretty good. I find I'm really tired for a couple days following my Avastin infusion, but the Cytoxan pill hasn't bothered me at all.
I had a CT scan on Monday and will get the results next Monday - April 7th. I'll be sure to let you know if I had any luck with this regime...(I had three doses of Avastin.)

  I am on avastin/abraxane, having only recently started it. So far it seems to be working with minimal side effects. There is another gal on here that if i am remembering right, she is on avastin/cytoxin. Hopefully she will see your post and be able to better answer your question.
