bloated after ovary removal

I had my right ovary and fallopian tube removed 6 days ago and I am still bloated. My whole abdomen, hips, and back seem to be bloated or swollen. Is this normal after this amount of time? If so, how much longer can I expect this?
Thank you.

Hi Cirella.
Thank you for your reply. My Dr. did say about 6 weeks recovery. I had open surgery and not laparoscopy. I of course was expecting swelling after such a surgery but I  wasn't prepared for this much and this long. I hardly eat anything and I feel so full! I am getting lots of rest and really trying to take care and heal right.
Thanks again.

Marci,
Hi, yes it is normal.  You are swollen from the surgery.  Did you have your surgery done by laparoscopy?  You had major surgery so give yourself more time.  I've just had a total hysterectomy via laparoscopy and tried to wear my jeans after 3 weeks and they were so uncomfortable.  Now, at almost 6 weeks, I notice it is lots better.  A year and a half before my hysto I'd had my right ovary/cyst and tube removed and it took a while for the swelling to go down.

Be patient and I hope you are continuing to get rest. Did your doctor give you an estimated recovery time?

Take care.
