borderline ovarian cancer

I have one child shes 8 by c-section. I have never been on the pill and after trying for a baby with no luck I went for fertility tests 2 years ago where it was discovered I had a 20cm cyst water based on my right ovary. It had pushed my left ovary and womb out of postion. It was removed biopsy was clear. One year later went again for fertility tests and discovered cyst 5cm on right ovary with blood and unusual shape. 3 months later went for laprocospy to remove it and the night before after a scan was told it was now double the size and would be removed by c-section.The doctor had to remove my right ovary and tube as the cyst was attached to them and looked suspicous. My biopsy said it was borderline cancer. It is a type of cancer which can be found in the neck of the womb and intestines. Its a mixed mucus liquid. Its growing on the outside of my ovary and this is unpredictable biological behaviour. Sorry thats greek translated to english I live in Greece I am Irish. I have been told I can have one go of ivf and then if sucessfull have my babies and remove my womb. If unsucessful also have a hysterectomy  to avoid ovarian cancer. what is your thoughts on this? I am afraid ivf will increase cancer risk and I dont know if hysterectomy is to big of an operation to do if there really the need to remove everything. Please contact me as I cant sleep or think. I am very concerned.

Hi,
Every case is different and borderline is DIFFERENT to benign and cancerous forms. It really depends on your individual staging and case. Do you have any extra ovarian disease? If so are the implants non invasive or invasive? or is it all contained to your ovary? These things you need to discuss with your specialist currently I still have my left ovary and will have everything removed once i have children in the next 18months however after it I am having a full hystorectomy, removal of ovary and pelvic clearance just to be safe. I go for a laporoscopy in 5 weeks to ensure everything is okay (as this is the only way for borderline cancers most of the time) if everything is okay then i go on IVF, if not I honestly would NOT hesitate to get everything out even though I am so young, as your life should take priority.

Also I was advised that there is no evidence that IVF or pregnancy affects borderline cancers in a negative way. but nothing is certain. In fact they think pregnancy is good for borderline disease.

BEST OF LUCK with everything.

Dian had the guts to say what I was trying to imply in a round about way.  Mine was taken out too late.  Now I am in a fight for my life.  A fight that statistics say I can't win for long.  Your girl needs you.  Marie

If you were my daughter there would be no question........ get it all out of there......I would want you to see a gynocologic oncologist just as soon as possible.  That is who should perform your surgery as well.  Your little girl would tell you the same ...... the one person she needs is you.  Remember when you were only eight?   How much did you love and depend on your mom?
YOU HAVE ONE CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME........and you only get to catch it early once as well.
Please don't wait.   Your little girl needs her mommy and you deserve to have a long and healthy life.
Peace.

You do have alot to think about.  This is a difficult decision, I am sure.  I have a form of mucinous cancer  that is low grade and also uncommon.  Mine was found too late for a great chance of recovery.  Whatever you decide I hope you don't wait a long time.  I wish you the best. Marie
