Take someone with you to the oncologist if you can. I did not my doctor was a bully and I was in shock. Also It is okay to get a second opinion. I wish I had. The Oncologist who did my surgery was a jerk. He never saw me the day of surgery or after. He turned me over to a Nurse Practitioner who was an idiot and Medical Students. I got a bad vibe from him at our first meeting. Also I found a nice hospital. The first was twenty years behind the times. The chemo facilities were like something in Russia. Now I am a place where they do cutting edge treatment and a beautiful chemo facility. I am there every week I need to trust my doctors and like the facility.

My organs were removed for a benign mucinous tumor (cystadenoma). My gynecologist should not have removed any other organs when the frozen section came back benign. But he proceeded to remove all my sex organs :( Some pathologists are more skilled than others so another pathology may be worth pursuing if you want to hold onto your ovary or at least what can be saved after "shelling out" the cyst. Of course, if there is a chance of cancer, then the ovary will likely need to be removed.
I typed this wrong must be the stress,,,,but the borderline mucinious tumor was found in the ovary they took out, it came back on the pathology report. They are sending me to a cancer gyno doctor tomorrow to discuss taking the other ovary and tube out just to be safe. I don't know what to even expect tomorrow at the cancer doctor.

Did they give you a percentage of it turning into Cancer? Did they say they would monitor you and how often? Those would be the questions I would ask. Like I have friend who has a 2% of Cancer with a borderline tumor that is really small. As has been said Borderline could just be complex.

It seems odd that this developed in less than 3 weeks. How large is it? What do they mean by borderline? Are they using "borderline" to mean "complex?" Borderline is usually determined from a biopsy and would have required that you had surgery to remove tissue from the ovary or the ovary itself, I don't think they can tell the specific type of cyst from imaging. What does your imaging report say?
