A year is too long...

I am 24 years old and for the last year and a half, I have been on my period or spotting almost non-stop. I've been rushed to the emergency room twice because of horrible cramping, but after numerous abnormal pap-smears and tranvaginal ultrasounds that show tumors but nothing "noteworthy" according to my doctor, I am left complete confused. Doctors are reluctant to do any further investigating and suggest a new birth control for me to try every three to four months. I am gaining weight, I am miserable, and I feel like I'm just pumping my body full of hormones and things have only gotten worse. I've had to sleep with a heating pad for the last two weeks, and I've been "bleeding" (sort of) brown blood for about 4 weeks straight, with no defining period since August. Sometimes I feel like my left ovary is about to fall out. What in the world could this be and what do I have to do to get a doctor to take this seriously. What about CAT Scans and MRI's? Even laparoscopy? Don't you think this should be looked into more?

Don't know what is wrong, but would get a new GYN ... one that addresses the problem.  Judy

You need a new doctor. Are you seeing a gyn? There is something wrong if you are having some sort of discharge. Keep pushing until you get an answer.
