ca125

I was cured from ovarian cancer for 8 years.  Last year the cancer had spread to my left ureter and I had to have my plumbing rerouted.  I have had a complete hysterectomy in the past with chemo.  This time, I had six weeks of radiation directed at my ureter.  Now I have metastasis to my liver.  My MD says it is about 3/4 of an inch big.  I also have breast cancer.  My ca125 has gone down to normal after 3 chemo treatments.  Do you think this means I could be cured, or could it be that it will spread when I finish the chemo.  The radiologist oncologist says I am going to die from this and he would like me to prove him wrong.   Thank you

I am sorry that the radiologist gave you negative news. In July08 I had a recurrence of OVCA after 14 mos...I had two tumors in the liver...the largest was about 1/2 of an inch. I just finished 12 rounds of chemo and my latest ct scan shows my tumors are gone. I will have a pet scan in May and if it is clean my Onc. will declare me in complete remission. From your post it appears you only have 1 tumor in your liver...which is good. I am not sure with you fighting breast cancer what your prognosis is and how they are treating both...but I wanted to tell you my story to give you hope...liver tumors don't mean you will die. I know I haven't been in remission for long but my doctors at MD Anderson have always been optimistic about my prognosis...as long as my cancer responded to the chemo and the chemo kicked my OVCA b***. I really believe that a postive attitude helps your body fight the cancer.  Don't let your docotrs or info on the internet bring you down...they are too general. there are a lot of factors that will determine your chances of survival. Good Luck and continue the good fight against cancer. Julie

The fact that you had an 8 year remisssion improves your chances of having another good remission. You have a much greater chance than I do and I don't like the radiologist for the way he worded that to you.  You sound ready to fight.  I am sure you will win again.  Marie
