clear cell carcinoma

Hi, I am a 37 year old with clear cell carcinoma Ovarian cancer.  I was in complete remission at the end of my chemo but after 5 months have gone out of remission.  Does anyone know of anyone with clear cell that has managed to get in remission for the 2nd time.

Hi,
I'm another one with clear cell, dang it!  I had surgery last April, did the 6 rounds of chemo over the summer and just got a higher CA 125 reading.  From 29 after the chemo to 42.  I had a PET/CT scan today - so we'll see...  This is certainly an Ugly disease!

I was diagnosed at stage 1A too - but it's still scary stuff.

My ins company vetoed the PET scan, the stingy b*&^($ - but I finally won!  I called them - refused to talk to their contractor & got the person who oversees the contractor (make no mistake - their job is to save the insurance company as much money as they can & if you die in the process that's ok)

The Insurance person wanted my doctor to do a Peer to Peer and "justify" asking for the PET scan.  I feel that the Ins contractor couldnt possibly have a genuine Peer of one of the best GYN/ONC at Johns Hopkins!  My doctor declined, since he had done it once before to no avail (the Ins CONTRACTOR knows MORE than my own doctor about my needs?!?!!! -- sorry getting ticked off again!

Anyway - they gave in!  I explained to 3 different people - laying it on pretty thick - but truthfully - explaining that my life was on the line here & they over-rode the *&^%^ contractor!

Good luck to you...
B

What stage were you diagnosed at?  I was diagnosed at stage 1A, clear cell in 3/2006, had 6 rounds of chemo.  Even though I was a stage 1A, it was recommended that I do the preventative chemo just due to the fact that it was a clear cell. Just started another round of my 3-6 month check ups, am assuming all will be fine, won't have my PET/CT SCAN until April.  I am always nervous every time I go and have my check ups, I guess it will always be that way.

Wishing you the best~~~

I am bumping this up for you.  I can't answer your question but there may be someone who can.  I think the board has been less active these past few days.  I'll be praying for you.
