scared-need advice.

The unknown is always scary, I am 46 and the last month has been a rollercoaster ride for me. All I can do is post what is going on and hope that someone will have had a similar experience and can shed some light on things for me.
for at least 4-5 months, I have severe lower back pain....it would come and go and at times be excruciating especially when trying to stand up...at other times annoying but bearable. I have also had bladder pressure and urinary frequency for quiet a while now.as well as constipation but not to severe and not pencil thin stool....
One month ago......I had an ovarian cyst burst...I have had them before over the years but this one was off the charts pain wise...however, after it burst... my lower back pain improved by 95%..still a bit achy but so much better!
The burst cyst "encouraged me" to make a long put off gyno appt for pap/checkup. During the exam I told my doctor of the cyst and back pain,  she ordered an ultrasound in case there were fibroids....during the ultrasound the bladder pressure was a bit uncomfortable.. I had to go badly and I had JUST went.....The ultrasound revealed no visable fibroids but they could not locate my right ovary... I now have a pelvic cat scan with contrast scheduled for monday... My doctor said the ovary could simply be hidden behind my bowel or something...... Anyone else have a hidden ovary with all these symptoms (which are ovarian cancer symptoms)  and  it end up being nothing......I am both scared of ovarian cancer and colon ......has this happened to anyone

I am doing well. I had Cancer in 15 places but it is now undetectable on CT Scan. I am in a Clinical trial for a new drug that when it comes on the market will be better than chemo.

I did not have the same problems from a hysterectomy. I look younger than I am. I have thick hair. My skin looks great. I had hot flashes for awhile but they went away. My bones are in great shape. Besides the Cancer and MS I am very healthy.

Yes, it is not uncommon for ovaries to be hidden. They are only the size of an almond so it is no wonder they cannot always be seen.

Benign ovarian cysts can cause the same symptoms as ovarian cancer. And  a ruptured cyst can cause symptoms too and may require antibiotics.

The good thing is that if you do not have a genetic predisposition for ovarian cancer (OC), chances are great that you do not have OC. A woman's lifetime risk is less than 2% (1.4% according to U.S. government stats).

Also, not all back and pelvic pain is gynecologic related which you already know but just thought I'd reiterate it. And the hormonal changes of perimenopause can also affect the bladder (and the bowel to some degree).

My gynecologist removed all my sex organs for a benign ovarian cyst. I am now predisposed to many health problems not only from the loss of my ovaries but also the loss of my uterus. And I have been suffering the after-effects ever since. So if you do have an ovarian cyst that needs surgical intervention, it is best to remove as little tissue / organs as possible with cystectomy (cyst removal) being the most health-promoting if the frozen section shows that the cyst is benign (non-cancerous).

Let us know what the CT scan shows...hoping it's nothing serious!

A hidden Ovary behind bowel is common. I am glad they are doing the scan. I am no doctor but it sounds like the cyst had adhered to something or twisted. Having urgency to urinate during ultrasounds is normal. I do not know how I got through mine. Especially if they have you drink all the water. You have less than a 2% chance of Ovarian Cancer or a 98% chance it is not Ovarian Cancer. Some benign conditions hurt more than Ovarian. You know your body make sure you get a satisfactory answer for you. I did have Ovarian and did not push the doctors. I threw up for two years and had diaphragm spasms. I lost weight because I could not eat. I saw a bunch of Doctors. Finally I went into the GP and said "I don't know what is wrong but something is terribly wrong". She did the ultrasound. They called me a couple days later and said it was Cancer.

I have bad Genetics the BRCA 1 mutation which makes you more likely to get breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and colorectal cancer. I also have a rare form of  Ovarian Cancer that only 2% of the 2% get. I also have a form of Multiple Sclerosis only 15% of people with MS get.

My Grandmother died of Ovarian Cancer in her 50's. My aunt died of Breast Cancer which she got at 44, Her daughter my cousin got breast cancer at 44, My father got prostate cancer at 58 and died at 74. My brother got prostate cancer at 58. My mother drank, smoked and took speed to keep my birth weight low when she was pregnant with me. There is no wonder I have Cancer or MS.
