Hi Joan, I am sorry that you are going thru this and in pain.  I am assuming that the cystic mass in on one or your ovaries.  I want you to know that only 15% of cysts on the ovaries are cancerous.  But when they get to a certain size they have to be removed, which sounds like what is going on with you.  They are painful, when is the surgery? Who is doing the surgery, it is best that a gyn oncologist does the surgery, I don't know if that is available for you.  Waiting is so hard.  If the pain is bad, call and get a prescription pain med to help until your surgery.  I wish the best, Kerry
