Thank you so much for your responses. I will update after the ultrasound when I know more. Sorry for the multiple topic posts! *blush* My computer kept timing out and I think I was a little over zealous with the 'post comment' button lol!
Hi, I understand your worry. The vaginal ultrasound will show more. The doctor will be able to see the cysts better as well as what is going on around them. Try not to worry until after you go in and get the report. I know it's easier said than done but the ultrasound will give your doctor more information.
Take care,
Lori
for the best results for ovarian cysts the Tranvaginal ultra sound is the best it can differenciate the make up of the cysts you must remember that 98% of all cysts are benign needle biopsy of a cyst is not usually done on Ovarys because of the possibility of it being cancer, you don't want to spread any cells. You can ask for a CA125 blood test also, they are fairly reliable, also a good pelvic, possibly a MRI, you need to ask the doctor to rule out OVCA, depends on the size of the cysts, if that is what they are, whether surgery will be needed. Cysts are very comman and can cause alot of pain. Let us know the results because we do care. Marty
You are right, the not knowing is the hardest. I think it is great that your doctor is being so proactive....now, NOT THAT I THINK YOU HAVE CANCER, I don't know, no one does without actual biopsies...I do think that if there is any kind of gynocological issue that might be questionable, an appointment with a GYN/ONC is the way to go. They are the experts, additional 3 years training, and they treat many women with benign conditions. Doctors flip back and forth between CT Scans and Transvaginal Ultrasounds....my doctor does both.
Please let us know how it goes....and remember, until they actually sample the tissue, no one knows what it is...and there are numberous types of masses that are benign.
