dermoid ovarian cyst

I am 27 years old and a recent MRI scan has indicated that i have a left ovarian dermoid cyst. (approx 5cm) To my great surprise (and fear), the scan also indicated that I have a "unicornuate uterus in the anterverted position". The junctional zone is unremarkable. What exacly does this mean and what are the implecations on my fertiltiy? I am extremely stressed and concerned and my doctor has not at all been sensitive or explained anything to me. In fact, it is only because i asked for a copy of the MRI results that i have learned about the uterus abnormality.  I am waiting to see a surgeon regarding removal of the cyst- but in the meantime, I am desperately seeking some advice regarding my fertilty. I am also terrified about the removal of the dermoid....

Thanks for your advice, experience and information.

I am sorry to hear of your distress.  I also have a dermoid cyst, 8.5 x 6.5.  I am 46 and obese, and will by having a hysterectomy on 04/08 to remove not only the cyst, and to eliminate the possibility of future cyst problems.

I don't know about your uterus, but can talk with you about the cyst.  It sounds like we have a similar problem there.

I wish you the best,
Morrowville

Sorry....I don't know much about dermoid cysts.  You can still have kids with just one ovary.

Good luck.
