this is a follow up to my woes. still on cisplatin/gemzar 125 finally dropped to 64 still have bowel problems. small blockage in small intestine. x-rays show it got a little better, oncologist said surgury is an option but only works about 40%

was in hosp for 5 days on all liquid diet, could not stand it. Finally had a port put in and they said iI could go home if my husband could learn how to infuse me. Using a portable carlin pump. This is great because you put the pump and bag of medication in a small canvas bag and you can get around without that stupid pole. Am now on something called tpn and it has vitamins and dextrose and other stuff. bowels are moving but am still having a lot of acid reflux without vomiting,

So sorry to hear of the bowel problems. I have a lot of trouble moving. The cancer along with the chemo and anti-nausea wreak havoc on our bowels. I am wishing you a lot of luck on your TPN. I have heard from others that it really helps. Best wishes, Helen

Hi. I don't know you, but since I have been plagued with horrible bowel problems thru my ovca, I thought I'd respond. I am glad your CA125 is down, but sorry you still have to feel so rotton. I had a complete blockage before my debulking surgery. At that time they removed a huge portion of my colon. I still suffer partial blockages and it is a miracle I've not overdosed on every laxative made!!! TPN is known for loosening the bowels, so that should help some. I'm glad you were able to go home. I read some of your prior posts so I know you have not had it easy thus far. I hate this disease. I hope the cisplatin/gemzar gives you a long remission. I had cisplatin and taxol thru I/V and I/P treatments. My CA125 was low after, but residual tumors were still present. I was stage 3b mucinous adenocarcinoma ovca dx june 2007. finished chemo 11/1007. I get another CTscan 2/28.  I wish you the best, Marie
