Unfortunately if you have a partial hysterectomy (uterus only), any remnants of the endometriosis in your pelvic region, etc. reacts to your hormonal cycle like your normal period. The endo swells and bleeds every month. That is why hormones are given to suppress the estrogen or removal of ovaries is suggested. A complete hysterectomy is often suggested as best remedy for severe endo. Endo is difficult to image by any means (US, CT, x-ray). Only an endometrioma or "chocolate" cyst that results from endo entering the ovary, can be imaged, but it is not 100% accurate in determining the type of cyst (typically no imaging is).
I agree with everyone! I had a partial hysterectomy in 1996 when I was 26 years old.
I was wondering, do you still have symptoms like the cramping or pevlic pain? I still have my ovaries and I have always experienced the same "pain" when I had my uterus and endometriosis-I'm starting to think the pain is now all in my head, even after 11 years!
I agree with tmarland04. An ultrasound usually does not detect endometriosis. I personally had endometriosis. I underwent laparascopic surgery in 2001 and battled it for 6 years until I finally had to have a complete hysterectomy (ovary removal) and I am only 31 years old.
Not much. Other than maybe cyst. In order to accurately dx or treat endo you need a laproscopic surgery. Good luck.
