follow up

Dear,Dear AK
February 14 will be my fifth anniversary since I had surgery for clear cell ovarian cancer. Since then I've had chemo and three month follow ups and then six month follow ups. And now I'm down to yearly exams. My question is, do I continue with a GYN/ONC for all my future appointments or go with a NP. My insurance has changed and I have been with many different doc's since surgery. I believe that all my care has been great but I do try to double check everything, scans, labs, ca125. My scans are good and ca125 is 0. My cholesterol is very high though. And I'm taking prevastatin. I do have what seems to be PPE on my feet I was given urea 40% for it. Thank-You

COngrates on 5th anniversary...You are the second person with clear cell that is celebrating 5th anniversary...Would like to know what stage you are, what meds were given to you five years ago? I have stage 4 clear cell, just finished 12 cycles of carbo/taxol..opt to stop after 12 and now doing the same as you but I prefer to stick to my GYNO ONC for my follow ups.

No hon you are in the right forum. Congrats on that clean bill of health!! That's great to hear. I think that is a personal choice question. I think I will continue to have my onc/gyn perform my exams just because we have such a strong history. On the other hand, I don't think there is anything wrong with having your NP conduct your exams now that you are cancer free. Best of luck, Deandra
