gah_70 aka Gail

I just received word from Gail.  She's okay, but due to the ice storm and such, she is without telephone and electricity.  They were told it will be at least 5 to 7 days before the power is restored.  Even the cellular service is sporadic.

I will post when I know more.

Dear Gail,

Well, that is so nice that you are home. It is sometimes hard to live out of a suitcase even if it is at your mom's house.  You are such a "go with the flow" kind of gal that I knew you would be fine, but with the cancer and all I was a tad concerned.

I was kind of jealous though because we got zilch, nada, zip, although we may get some Mon/Tues. If I had been better we would have driven up there. This may very well be my last winter and I have told Cory that we ARE going to find some REAL snow, as in snow that is at least 6" or so.  I love the deep woods on a wet snowy day. The snow clings to the trees and it is so very, very still and quiet. OK, I don't want to be without power for 5 days but I do want to see some real snow.

Oh, have you been back to work and if not when do you anticipate returning?   I hope you enjoyed your unexpected break, even if it was because of harsh weather. Take care kiddo and get some rest.

Love,
Jan

Hi Gail

Glad to hear your back home and have power back.  We are still without power here in Sikeston, some places are getting it back but may be a few more days before everyone has it.  My parents and sister are in Ky and I have not been able to talk to them since this has happened so I am worried about them.  We got a generator on Friday so we been able to have heat again and our tv and computer back.  I have my pet scan on Wed so I will be glad to get that over with.   Glad to hear you are ok.  Take care

COMMUNITY LEADER
Just letting you all know I am back.  I have had electricity for a few hours now, thankfully!  Still under a boil water order, but that's cake compared to how things were a few days ago.  It's nice to be back in my warm house, and take a hot shower!  There are many in other communities around here and across the state that are in much worse shape than me.  Thanks for your thoughts, and thanks to Shawn and Jan for posting updates.

Love,
Gail

Got a text from Gail last night and she is still okay. They still don't have power, but they do have the generator so they aren't as bad off as some people are. They have to wait for TVA to fix their towers before the local guys can do anything. They are hoping it will be tomorrow.  I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

Her parents have a generator and they are cooking on a grill so they are okay.  Texts may be going through faster for me because I am so close to her geographically.  I am sure they are keeping the cell phones charged in case of emergency, but I won't text her anymore just in case. I have never met you Shawn, but Gail has told me what a good friend you have been and I think it is wonderful the things you do for her, especially when she comes to Texas. Not many people would do what you do.

No problem. She's having cell service issues and is at her folks.  Her text messages take hours to go through.  I'm also worried she might not have a way to charge her cell phone either, so I will wait until she contacts me again.  I would hate to waste her battery at this point.

I sent her a text msg and am waiting to hear back. We can go up there and get them and bring them back here to stay with us or as I told her, at the very least we can take them food and firewood. I don't know if she has a fireplace or not, but she doesn't need to be in that kind of cold.  I'll let you know if I hear anything back.
Thanks Shawn for letting us know.
