Hi there,
It has been a month since your mother has surgery. It is not really normal to not get out of bed and to not eat. She needs to see her gyn oncologist for a good evalaution which should include an exam, labs, and possibly even a CT scan of the abdomen. The questions I would ask include:
does she have an infection?
is she anemic
how are her kidney and liver functions?
does she have a post operative bowel obstruction?
Is there any sign of cancer?

best wishes

Hi,

I had a full hysterectomy Dec 4th (save my cervix).  Initially, I was very ill, a lot of throwing up, didn't eat and tiredness the first 5 days after surgery, but since then, I've rebounded nicely.  Will start driving again this week and I can't wait...I do have two more weeks before I start 6 rounds of chemo.  But, I had so much to look forward to after surgery, the Holidays, seeing family that I think it pushed me to move around and get going.

If there is no pain involved, I'm willing to bet it's more emotional than physical.  She may be depressed, sad or lacking the drive to get moving.  Try taking her out to a movie or lunch.  She needs to get moving as soon as possible. If nothing is working, I suggest speaking to her doctor.  Half the battle often is our emotional and mental state.

Good Luck and Best wishes for better health for your mother.
